Lake Como movie locations: Star Wars and James Bond

The most famous film location on Lake Como is Villa del Balbianello, at Lenno: it appears in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) and in the James Bond film Casino Royale (2006). Our private tours from 2 hours pass in front of it, from €600 for the whole boat.

Villa del Balbianello on screen

In Star Wars: Episode II the villa and its lakeside terraces are the retreat on Naboo where Anakin and Padmé marry. In Casino Royale it is where James Bond recovers after the poker game. The villa sits on the tip of the Lavedo point, surrounded by water on three sides.

Seeing it from the water

The villa is best appreciated from the lake: from a boat you see the point, the terraces and the loggia in one frame. Visiting the villa itself is separate and follows its own opening times.

Which tour to choose

Villas and city, 3 hours for €800, reaches Villa del Balbianello and passes the Nesso waterfall and George Clooney's villa in Laglio on the way. Grand Lake Como, 6 hours for €1,350, adds Bellagio and Varenna. From a pier in the centre of the lake, the villa is closer and fits in a shorter tour.
